Dream
L.I to edit our writing using draft
This week for writing we has been working on Abstract Noun Poems. Me and my partner's abstract noun is about Dream. An Abstract noun is something that exists but you cannot touch, an abstract noun also comes with metaphors and 5 senses. The 5 senses we use to make our poem powerful is using (smell, taste, hear, feeling and see). Something that helped us out of writing our abstract nouns is using Metaphors , Simile , complex sentences , punctuation, complex sentences and word hippo.
Then the next day we edited our poems using DRAFT (Delete, Rearange, Add, Fix, Talk)
Something we found interesting is how the DRAFT System works.
Something we learnt is how the DRAFT system works

Rock Paper Sizzors
LI to learn how to code microbots to play rock paper sizzsors and understand how to use a flow chart .
- When I shake the microbit, it will choose a random number between 1 and 3
- I have to make a variable called hand and set this to the random number
- If the number is 1 - the microbit will show the symbol for paper
- If the number is 2 - the microbit will show the symbol for rock
- If the number is 3 - the microbit will show the symbol for scissors

Success
LI: To write a abstract noun senses poem
Our task was to create a poem using metaphors and abstract nouns.
A metaphor is a comparison of two things, saying one thing is the other without using ‘like’ or ‘as’.
Abstract nouns are things the we can see but we can't physically touch it.
The 5 senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell and feel.
First, we chose a word from the list, our group picked success. After picking the word,we looked for the structure in the example given to us. Then, we created a poem with the structure. After writing the poem, we created a DLO about the poem.
The word that our group chose was Success.
We really enjoyed this activity, because it taught us how to create metaphors and poems, using abstract nouns.

Venn Diagram
LI: to find as many similarities and differences as you can between the video and the text of “The Beginning”.
To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a Venn Diagram. For our Venn Diagram we compared the differences and similarities between the Video and Written Version of the Maori Creation Story.
A Venn Diagram, is a diagram showcasing the differences and similarities between two different things.
Did this Happen?
LI: to consider both perspectives.
To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a DLO to explain the evidence and perspective of a maori story. We read about Sacred Spots from Māori Mythology. We used the different evidence from the articles to create an opinion on whether we think it is true or false.
The story we chose to do was about the Tongariro National Park. This story talked about the mountains that surrounded Taupo lake, they were all male except for one. Her name was Pihanga. They fought for the love of Pihanga, only one came out victorious. That mountain was Tongariro.
main ideas
LI: to identify the main ideas in the text.
To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a DLO explaining the main ideas of the story of how maui slowed the sun. We watched a video explaining the story of how maui slowed the sun and why.
Maui and the villagers weren’t able to finish off their tasks during the day because the sun went by too fast. They got sick of it so maui and his brother made a plan to slow the sun. They used flax ropes and he magical jawbone Maui was given by his grandmother.
summerising
LI: to explain in fewer words what the text is about
For our Inquiry we were learning about Matariki, and the origin story. Our task was to watch a video on the Maori Creation story and we had to summarise the video. The video was an artist representing and creating the story through sand art.
Our 20 important words had to be the top important words from the video, words that represented the story. Then from the 20 we had to pick the 6 most important words Then using those 6 words we had to sum up the story in a few sentences.

Building an mbot
L.I To understand how the mBot is put together so that I can fix it when something goes wrong.
Today, we took an mBot apart and then reassembled it. We then tested it with some code to make sure that it worked correctly.
Here are the parts of the mBot that I took apart.

Book week
L.I To celebrate reading
Student led confrence
L.I to share our learning with our families
Being a jedi in coding
L.I to code a robot to try and make it move forward and back without touching it
My robot will wait until i have pressed the onboard button before it does anything. We used an "IF - THEN - ELSE" block as this gives the robot two choices of things to do. We are using the ULTRASONIC SENSORon the of the robot and we need to sense if something 10cm in front of it. IF something is 10cm or LESS in front of the robot , it will move backwards. IF something is NOT less han 10cm in the front of the robot, it wil move forwards (ELSE). This is all put into a forever block so that the robot constantly senses what is in front of it.
