Hauora - olmpics
LI: To show our understanding of Hauora in context.
Athletes at the top of their field train both physically and mentally because it is both the body and the mind that need to be healthy to have balance as an athlete. It is important to enjoy and celebrate the results of what hard work has led to since it might be a one time opportunity. Olympic athletes that have earned a medal should be proud of themselves, and olympians that have unfortunately lost should be grateful for the opportunity.

Mindfulness reflection
LI: to understand the definition of mindfulness.
Mindfulness is relaxing your body, and having a calm mindset. Mindfulness discriminates against all the negative emotions going throughout your mind. This makes us more engaged in our learning and the things we are doing.
Today we had a session in LS2 about mindfulness. To relax our minds and bodies we took a few minutes to breathe in and out. This helped us clear our heads and clear our thoughts. It is treated as a taonga ( with a level of respect ).

current events
This week for Reading we learnt about author's purpose. Authors write for a purpose/reason. These reasons are to Persuade, Inform, Explain or Entertain (PIE).
First we looked at Kiwi Kids News to find a article. Then, we made a copy of the Current Events DLO and answered these questions:
What
When
Where
Why
The article i was reading about was called
Tech/Coding
To understand how flowcharts relate to coding blocks.
To understand how to get the microbit to talk to another microbit using radio signals.
Here is my flowchart practice document.

Matariki stars
L.I to make a DLO about the matariki stars
matariki brochure
Inside
This week for the matariki challenges we created 2 brochures which was an inside brochure and an outside bochure. For my inside brochure, me and my group explained about the matariki stories, how matariki was celebrated in the past and what food was harvest at the festival. For my outside bochure, we explained matariki and wrote fact about it too.
What I found a bit hard is that i didn't know any fact so I had to reaserch it.
Matariki stars
LI: to understand the origins of Matariki
Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition
To strengthen our connections to Matariki we had a choice of research activities.
I found out how to find the matariki stars
I enjoyed this activity because I worked with other people that i didnt work with.

Coding in python
L.I to learn to code the microbit in python
This first one shows the Python coding for a flashing heart. It flashes between a small heart icon and a large heart icon. The main thing to notice between the Python coding and the blocks is that the forever loop is at the top and bottom of the content in both.

Dream
L.I to edit our writing using draft
This week for writing we has been working on Abstract Noun Poems. Me and my partner's abstract noun is about Dream. An Abstract noun is something that exists but you cannot touch, an abstract noun also comes with metaphors and 5 senses. The 5 senses we use to make our poem powerful is using (smell, taste, hear, feeling and see). Something that helped us out of writing our abstract nouns is using Metaphors , Simile , complex sentences , punctuation, complex sentences and word hippo.
Then the next day we edited our poems using DRAFT (Delete, Rearange, Add, Fix, Talk)
Something we found interesting is how the DRAFT System works.
Something we learnt is how the DRAFT system works
